The story of Luxbags began when Jiaxin, the owner and founder—and a self-confessed designer bag addict—caught Fendi Baguette fever and started selling her own collection because she wanted her beloved bags to have new owners who would love and use them.

When Jiaxin grew up in China and Singapore, buying second-hand was sneered upon. She experienced first-hand the social and financial obstacles that can stand in the way of acquiring one’s first luxury handbag. When she moved to London as a student in 2017, she discovered the joy of thrifting in outlets, vintage shops, charity shops, and flea markets. As a fashion lover on a tight budget, she found London to be a paradise.

The fashion world is changing rapidly, and buying pre-loved is becoming more mainstream as it is seen as both trendy and sustainable. With the rise of platforms such as Vestiaire Collective, shopping second-hand online has become more fashionable than ever. Despite these promising developments, however, Jiaxin still found it hard to find a platform that gave her the personal customer service that she enjoyed at thrift stores or brand flagship stores. The trend towards sustainability and the absence of personal customer service inspired her to establish Luxbags.
